Has anyone used it and is it very helpful for welding stainless.Tony
Reply:I use it alot. It comes in very handy when the backside of the weld isn't visible, and in difficult to purge spots. It leaves a hard glassy looking residue where it is applied. I would be lost without it to be honest. It's a real PITA to have to backpurge sometimes.Soarflux seems expensive, at ~$40 a pound, but that pound will last a very long time. 1 tablespoon of powder will easily cover 2' of weld joint. I bought a can about 1 1/2 year ago, and it is still 3/4 full.Miller EconotigCutmaster 38Yes ma'am, that IS a screwdriver in my pocket!
Reply:Solar flux works great in place of an argon purge, it works great on mild steel as well (it makes it harder to burn through). Use the right alcohol for best results. The resude is difficult to clean off if your part needs to be sanitary.

Reply:Ah, that makes sense. I just went on the web site and looked at the distributor list. Found a "local" company that sells it for the above price I posted.John - fabricator extraordinaire, car nut!- bleeding Miller blue! http://www.weldfabzone.com

Reply:You can also get a 4 oz jar from:http://tinmantech.chainreactionweb.c...58918e3d8ca40aIt looks like the same stuff to me. I have Solar flux and this stuff. And yes I have tried gas welding stainless. Thats why I bought it. Solar flux makes it possible. Not pretty by any standards. But it had complete penetration. On the inside of exh pipes its works well. If it gets on the outside its a bitch to clean off. Dont use it anywhere you might need to clean it off.mm135HTP Invertig 201 With water cooler9" Southbend LatheLots of hand tools.
Reply:I am getting ready to MIG weld a 304 catback for my car. I am in the process of getting the right gas for the shield but at this point I really have way to split the line so I can back purge, is there any reason why I couldn't use this for the inside of the tubing?Welder is a Lincoln 255 (?? I think). It is not mine but I have pretty much full access to it anytime I want. I really don't want to play with their lines other than the tank swap and of course the wire.TIA
