Hey guys, I need to buy a welder to work on my car restoration, (automotive sheetmetal), I have been shopping around and so far I think I'm at a decision between these two MIGs. The specs are very comparable, the Lincoln is 454.00 the Hobart is 479.00.
Reply:The HH140 has consistently received great reviews over on the Hobart Weld Talk forum, and is the preferred machine for auto body sheet metal.  Tool King often has them as "A" grade reconditioned at a good savings.  those "A" units likewise have very good reviews...the "B" units do not."Good Enough Never Is"MIller AC/DC  ThunderboltHobart HH180, 125EZRiland Cut 40 Plasma oxy/act  outfitTons of "stuff", all treasures to me!
Reply:All I own are Lincolns, but if  the hobart has continuous voltage instead of taps, its more of what you need.Just so you know, either one will only put out about 100 welding amps.David Real world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:roll the dice...either is a great machine for autobody repair...I have a lincoln 140c I paid just under $600 for mine and it has continuous voltage adjustment, awesome little welder!
