Help with New Tig Plasma MMA.......

Hi from down under in Oz. I have just bought a "super 200" AC/DC Tig, MMA plasma cutter machine a few weeks ago, (from ebay) and have just got around to setting it up. I went to use the plasma cutter, and only get a small spark and compressed air, no arc or cut I believe my machine is similar to many of the chinese variations on the market now, it is called a "tomahawk 200"If anyone can give me some idea on what to look for it would be greatly appreciated. It seems the power is there, but it just doesnt have the current to get an arc to start cutting. picture of the machine attached.thanks in advance,MB Attached Images
Reply:Are you sure that Model has Plasma Capabilities? There are so many different paint jobs for VERY similar machines. Does it have an owners manual? If the plasma torch is showing a small ARC, try cleaning the area you are grounding to. I have a multiprocess machine that does take a second or two  to fire up after the pilot arc starts.The machine you show in that picture does not appear to have a "Plasma" setting for the toggle switch.Have a nice dayhttp://www.weldingdata.com/
Reply:definitely has plasma capabilities, came with the torch, but unfortunately came with a very basic two page instruction manual that has nothing on plasma, only the Tig and MMA.here is a link to the auction that I won:http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....MEWN:IT&ih=013steel I was trying to cut was very clean, all connections were good, or appeared that way. Unfortunately it would seem I have a DOA machine. I found this thread, appears I have a very similar machine, jakeru had an almost identical issue........ Reply:Take the cover off and check for loose connections. I 'read on the internet' someone found things loose. Reply:Will do, appears to be a plasma function fault, as I had the tig running this morning. That is, until I found that the bottle (small disposable type) I had bought appears to have been nearly empty. gas ran out after using the machine for less that 30 seconds.....
Reply:most likely has an internal pressure switch also. not enough air pressure and there will be no arc start.

Reply:Hey did any1 find a solution to this problem. I have just bought the same item (Probly from the same dealer) and its a fkn great unit except I cant get the plasma cutter to work either. spent a good 2 hours with the unit trying to get the plasma cut to work but wasted 2 hours i think. Even without the plasma cut working this is still the best Tig ive ever bought. Even I have no trouble welding aluminium with this unit. If anyone can figure out the plasma cutter I would love to hear about it
Reply:I havent been able to sort my problem out as yet, was given a phone number to call, but that went to message bank and I havent been contacted back. I hooked it up and went to use the TIG this afternoon, and the gauge/regulator leaked like a sieve....What air pressure are you using for the plasma cutter?

Reply:I have been flat out since last on here, plus been on holidays and busy as around the house. The TIG side of my welder works and it works great. I had a play with the plasma last night, still didn't want to play the game. Just hooked it up again this afternoon and increase the air pressure, and away it went.  so now I can make the aluminium seat bases/posts for my boat, the new stainless battery tray for my 4x4......   very happy!!
