How to remove hot gal?

I need to remove some excess hot gal from the inside of some 73mm tube with a plate a one end.  They are 300mm long.  I cant get a bur for my die grinder with a long enough shaft.  I tryed a cold chisel but cant get a close enough finnish.Any suggestions.i was thinking of heat direct with O/A torch and weld tip but dont want to damage the outside too much.
Reply:I assume you only want to remove excess material which sticks up, otherwise you could use acid or electrolysis. Weld a nut on a piece of running thread, find a piece of cylindrical rubber and drill it to allow the running thread to go through, use washers and a second nut to tighten the rubber in place. If you can find sanding sleeves to fit the rubber, expand the rubber by tightening the nut enough. Otherwise, cut a strip of sandpaper whose width is the length of the rubber plus a bit more, and tape it on the outside of the rubber so the unit can be driven by a high speed drill. Make the strip long enough to go around a few times, so you can trim the worn material away without replacing the whole strip at the same time.Last edited by Oldiron2; 04-28-2009 at 01:50 AM.
