Is there really a difference in Auto Darkening helmets between the "cheapy" ones and say the name brand helmets? I have a Harbor Freight one, which I've been happy with, but it is the only one i"ve ever had. Any comments would be helpful as I am considering buying a new one. Thanks, Dave
Reply:Yes there are. search the forum and you will find a lot of info on this subject. The difference between art and craft is the quality of the workmanship. I am an artist.
Reply:Just look at the specs for a new Miller, Jackson, ect and compare them to the HF helmets. It usually comes down to reaction time of the lens switching to dark and other features like grind mode, variable shade, sensitivity, ect.Fire!, Fire! Oh wait, that's my torch...Lincoln PT-225 TIGLincoln 175 MIG
Reply:When buying HF helmets see if they will give you a better price if you buy a dozen. They fall apart so fast the should be classified as an explosive. Sure they will give you another. But my time to go get another is worth more than the helmet.Tough as nails and damn near as smart |
