Type of Generator and Power Consumption Questions

I have a miller XMT, and I am currently renting a house. I am hesitant to put a 220 outlet in my garage because the breaker box is pretty far away and it would be quite expensive. I want to get a generator but have no experience whatsoever in this area. How many watt generator would i need to power the welder? And does anyone have any recommendations or suggestions about generators. Thanks for any advice appreciate it

Reply:well i got a quote for an outlet today, for $1400. The breaker box is about 80 feet away from the garage, its really an unfortunate setup. Im only renting the house for a year so I really dont want to drop that kind of cash on something that wont be mine afterwards. Damnit i really need to weld here.

Reply:I just looked at screaming broccoli and its right by where i live, i live over by 83rd and lincoln. What a coincidence. The panel has room for a 50amp breaker, but I am also wondering how much more I am gonna be paying for my electric bill, if I am using it for say an hour a day. Reply:Hey man, What do you plan on welding?If it's not heavy stuff perhaps you could buy a 110v machine for less than the cost of running the outlet.Save a couple bucks and have a new toy.Yup
