thanks again for your reply concerning the miller 165 or thermal arc 185 .i do ;have some questions first ,im going with the 185 because i dont think i will out grow this machine. i believe it will do any thing i need it to do,but never tig before, soooo turning the machine on,for the first time, will all the features backfire on me,where i cant lean to do simple tigging?(this is where i believe the 165 miller might have the advantage) i no down the road those features are a plus ,just hope i dont have to be a rocket scientist, to use the machine.also where is the best place to order the 185 new.(with everything i need ,minus argon bottle)best price of course.. and can someone tell me,how i can tell the difference or what is the difference between the 185 or arcmaster 185,i read somewhere you have to watch where you are ordering from cause it could be the older model.

Reply:Just start on steel and the settings are not that important. There are good instructions with the machine including a quick set up guide so you can fire it up right after you open it.I have one and use it to make part of my living. Its one of my shop welders.DavidLast edited by David R; 05-12-2009 at 09:51 PM.Real world weldin. When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:The 185 is perfect for me but my concern are two things:Why does it cost more than the old Thermal Arc 185 T SW that was discontinued? It was like $1800 with everything. It's made in Japan, which is good I guess but I did want to support US companies.

Reply:I just bought a TA185. The reciept shows model number show 103073A1. On the back of the welder it shows M6090057 W103073A missing the 1. Can you tell me the year model by this number?
Reply:If you just bought it then I imagine it is the newest model- don't know model year/sn Ed Conleyhttp://www.screamingbroccoli.com/MM252MM211 (Sold)Passport Plus & Spool gunLincoln SP135 Plus- (Gone to a good home)Klutch 120v Plasma cutterSO 2020 benderBeer in the fridge |
