Has anyone heard of this welder? I just come across this one, says he is selling,he says it's 10 years old and it looks pretty good for it's age, just got back from taking a look at it,rather find any info on this before plunking down $100 he's asking for it. this does take gas.Last edited by GiddyWelder; 07-30-2009 at 03:03 PM.
Reply:Are you sure that the name is as you spelled it?Or is it K-ARC?If it is the later, it was made by K Industries in Chicago, well, it was assembled by them anyways! It should have a Euro style gun cable connector on it.Check with HTP America, they should be able to give you the info on it, and maybe even carry the consumables and such!http://www.htpweld.com/#1. If you don't like what I wrote, or if it offends you, then don't read it!#2. I am living life the way I see fit, if you don't like the way I'M living, tough sh**!
Reply:Does it work and did you see it work?
Reply:it's a K-ARC 100(just gave him a call) and he says it works fine(couldn't find the regulator for it earlier but has it now),he also has a Hobart 175(?) that needs some fixing up that he just got also for $100,so I should give HTP America a buzz on this,Ken?
Reply:Just had a chat with Diana at HTP weld I got to get pics of the front and back of the welder, she might get some info(probably not for parts but maybe consumables and replacement gun, etc). She also checks on this website(That's GREAT in my book  ) and was looking at this thread..... I hope the dude lets me take a couple of pics(I'll drop it right there if he doesn't want to do that)Last edited by GiddyWelder; 07-30-2009 at 05:29 PM.Reason: speeling miskate
Reply:I figured if anyone else had info, or could get it, it would be HTP, since they have been in business for quite a while up there by Chicago! And they usually are great people to work with!If they can get you parts or at least gun and consumables, don't be afraid to use them, I have nothing but good stuff to say about them, for example, about 6-7 months ago, I bought a new flow meter off of them, a couple of weeks ago, it developed a leak in the high pressure gauge, and without even wanting the old one back for proof of the leak, they sent me a new one.Now thats great costumer service if you ask me!#1. Reply:Heh,having told my son about the KARC welder and was contemplating a older millermatic 200,he done snuck out and bought it for $100,was tested before buying and it works fine, only takes .023 and .030 wire, only thing I got to do now is take pics and send'em to Diana(takes gas and has the regulator that comes with it). I hope she will be able to have parts if I need them and I'm sure a lincoln or miller .030 tip will work if I need'em. This will do til I have enough for a brand new Millermatic(DVI2 is in my mind). I will post pics here in the next day or two.
Reply:Heres a pic of the last welder that HTP helped me with, its a Ben Pearson Weldco Power Pro 160.The head tech at HTP Steve, spent a few hours with me on the phone, helping me figure out the wiring, and we got it going and I am still using it today!I gave a whole $50.00 for it non working and didn't have to invest another single dime with HTP's help! That flow meter on the tank is the one I was talking about earlier. Reply:Yup!Thats definitely not the one that I was thinking of!The one that I was thinking of was a 220volt machine. But the one I was imagining may not have been a K-arc!Last edited by Ken Dennis; 08-04-2009 at 12:13 PM.#1. Reply:Ken,I appreciate you man, thanks for your help !     And Diana too!
Reply:Giddy, that looks exactly like a Matco (same as Bluepoint) somebody gave me except the Matco is red. Sheetmetal, controls, etc are the same as your pic.  It's foreign made, Italian I think and Century entered the picture somehow. I managed to find a manual online but it was about like a Harbor Freight manual, that is, worthless. It's been a while and I've lost the manual.  It did an ok job for me but eventually the plastic wirefeed parts broke and no parts available. If it works it's worth a hundred bucks tops. I'd buy the Hobart.
Reply:hvw:Meh,I've gotten the history on it(thanks to Ken and Diana) and it might be worth $100(I do have the manual for this)but I have a feeling it's going to last awhile as it wasn't used much by the previous owner and still works fine,I will be doing a couple of upgrades to make things easier and when it finally dies I will be getting a newer welder(the Hobart he had was someone elses and was missing parts). Anyway I don't consider it junk if it's still usuable and will be like new when I get done with it.Last edited by GiddyWelder; 08-06-2009 at 06:59 PM.Reason: changed a comma to a period,d'oh!
Reply:It'll do a good job for you. I welded a bunch of stuff with mine. Eventually the regulator messed up, then the gun then the wire feed mechanism but it took a few years. You did allright for $100.00. You can't buy one off the Mac or Snapon truck for $1`00.00.

Reply:It's the same as a Clarke.  I just modified the gun on a Clarke 100 something for a guy the other day.  Very simple machines.  I tested it out after modifying and was really surprised how well it worked.  ran a beautiful bead with .023 wire, 75/25 gas, on 1/8" material.  I wouldn't own one though, but I would borrow one in a pinch.
Reply:Just for some info... the neck is held into a brass block in the gun with a set screw.  The brass block has the gas valve in it.  And the "switch"  is just a bent piece of metal that the trigger pushes up against the brass block to run the feed.
