I apologize if this is the wrong forum. I tried ordering a couple tips for a Craftsman model #303.54401 torch from Sears PartsDirect. Big surprize: back ordered. Just wondering if one of ya'll know how I could find who manufactured it. Might make it easier to buy tips. The torch works great. Just need some smaller welding tips. Yeah, I think I will have to take it to a welding supplier and ask them. Just thought I'd ask. Thanks(Retired) Professional firefighter, amateur everything else I try to do...Oh yeah: Go Big Red! Reply:Your Craftsman is more than likely made by Harris. Can you post some pictures? I can ID if you can.OAdoctorwww.regulatortorchrepair.com
Reply:My 1977 Craftsman uses Harris tips. They look like a bent copper tube with one end threaded, the other end tapered. No O-rings or brass fittings.9-11-2001......We Will Never ForgetRetired desk jockey. Hobby weldor with a little training. Craftsman O/A---Flat, Vert, Ovhd, Horz. Miller Syncrowave 250
Reply:Here's a couple pics. I'm gonna take the torch to Praxair this morning. See what I can learn. I will post the info I get. Thanks! Reply:Yup, as said before, that one's made by Harris. You should have no problem finding tips at your LWS.
Reply:Made a trip to Praxair. They don't have welding tips in stock. Only cutting tips. The person looked in their catalog and couldn't help me. Offered to sell me a Victor set for $200. Next, I am gonna drive to Linweld. Much longer drive but maybe they can help me. I know, I'm whining here. Sorry. Thanks for input!(Retired) Professional firefighter, amateur everything else I try to do...Oh yeah: Go Big Red! Reply:Not a supprize, most LWS guys dont know a torch from a hole in the ground. Im thinking your torch uses Harris 5090 series tips. Commonly fitted to the Harris model 15 handle and others. If you can unscrew the tip and measure the thread that would confirm it for me.-Aaron
Reply:I hope you can read the dimensions. I used my brand new as of this morning HF (cringe) digital micrometer cuz I was not sure just what dimensions you needed. I also used the basic paint program to do the pics. I really appreciate your taking the time to help me! Reply:So far its looking like the harris 5090. If you can check the thread pitch that would seal the deal. Should be 27 TPI ( yes an odd ball )
Reply:Whatever you do, DO NOT buy aftermarket Weldmark tips' or any other brand. They don't fit correctly, and you have to really crank down on the nut to seal them. It will ruin your seat.Buy genuine Harris tipsMy torch is a Craftsman AKA Harris. It's a great torch, but don't buy the aftermarket stuff for it"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:The first four numbers on the tip give you the "series". From there all you gotta do is select the size, ie 00,0,1,2 etc."Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:Well sh11, I was thinking cutting tips, but it might be the same for welding/brazing tips. Check it out"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/

It possible uses the tips from the link above. If your LS can not help you, let me know and I can order them for you.Hope this helps.OAdoctorwww.regulatortorchrepair.com
