Reply:When I was 4 years old , back in Dow OK, Up in the Hills I use to turn that coal heater (until franz tells me what is is called) I remember coal poping out ever where. My great grand pa used it for some kind of rod's I think..It was a long time ago, about 47 years I think..Franz was about 65  LOL ..just kidding..(pimple face MP kid)...I havent forgot Attached ImagesRobert D
Reply:RockyD's your man on that welder, he wrote the manual on mule shoeing for George Washington.The sad truth is I can't faggot weld to save my ***, and the smith who keeps promisin to teach me and I aan't seem to catch up to each other.Only thing wrong with that forge is fixable with a piece of tin and some creek mud.   Looks like ti was either a farrier's forge, or a rivet forge in it's first life, and ought to have a conicle hood.If my wife saw that, she'd be givin me orders how she wanted it fixed up and painted so she could set it onthe porch and plant something in it.  She has a lot of power in that area since I don't want to find the water hopper on my fairbanks full of dirt and a plant.She bought this in an auction for "only a dollar" and had me drag it a good half mile to the car.  Worst part was she put it on my bidding number, and all the damn refractory was still in place. Reply:Franz, when I bought my house I had one of those boilers in it, along with the copper water storage tank. All tied in with brass pipe, looked real nice but the boiler had froze at some point and was split.Bernie
Reply:Bernie, that one my wife has the plant in suffered the same fate as yours,  but that didn't bother her one bit, cause it came from Reading in Pa.I figure I have 2 hours of sandblasting & grinding in that, followed by a couple more hours of everdure & MIG patching the casting back together before I got to paint the damn thing.  I don't think there is anything that is more fun to patch than cast iron that has been fired for a long time by coal.Appreciation Gains You Recognition-
