A freind of mine took a old army trailer and installed a hoist under it after a little fabrication. The thing isnt real big, but will haul a lot of weight (gravel, firewood). Dumps quick as well. We went to the farm show one year and got to looking at this 20' flatbed trailer that tilts. Ever since then, I wanted to build something simular to haul my tractor. No more ramps to lift plus safer than going up and down ramps with muddy tires. Anyone built anything close to this? Any techniques you like to share? Pictures?
Reply:This one is made from a former gas station hoyst, and can easily carry a 6000# tractor with FEL and Brushhog. It's tandem axel and tilts using compressed air.It also has an electric winch for loading and UNLOADING nasty objects that are not self propelled.Since it is so much fun to load things in the dark, I also added a floodlight on the toung, and both the light and winch can be powered from an onboard battery.Since I'm naturally lazy, the entire trailer was fabricated upside down. It was then pulled from the shop on a pair of dollys and flipped with a tow truck and a loader, so the final toung height could be set and the hitch mounted. Reply:Or, were you perhaps looking for something like this? This one is cable operated, with a removable tailgate. It's my wife's favorite garden toy, and in just 4 or 7 more years, she will be able to back it where she wants it. Attn S, it's made from an old oil tank. Attached ImagesAppreciation Gains You Recognition-
Reply:Or, if you want slightly larger, with electric/hydraluic operation, we have this one.It started life as a 5 foot square electrical enclosure, and became a 5 x 7 dump trailer. The tailgate assembly is copied from an Anthony Dump Body, with all linkages mineaturized. If I were to build it today, I'd definitely use a doghouse and front mounted cylinder for better dumping capacity. Reply:Or, were you looking for something like this model?8'6" x 6' x 16" box body with electric/hydraulic tilt and removable crane, tool boxes on both sides, and electric winch for loading assistance. It also has an extendable toung for hauling poles.Load capacity on this one is 5000#Notice the spare tire cause I ain't donating any more trailers to rat bustards who happen to have a spare for the tire I had to leave on a jack while I went and had the tire repaired.
