I passed a job to a co-worker that consisted of an angle frame yesterday. I took a look at what he had done and was a little disappointed in the amount of time he spent cutting 45's in the angle with a saw. We have an iron worker that can sheer angle and it has a nibbler on the end of it. With using that machine, I can have a 12 x 12 frame tacked together within 5 minutes. I decided to post a note on the iron worker for future employees and current ones and I thought I would share with you folks as well. All I do is figure the math to the formula, sheer the pieces to that length and snip the 45's with the nibbler end of the iron worker. I subtract an additional 1/16" so I dont have to grind quite as much.Hope this was useful for some.-Mike Attached ImagesCommon sense in an uncommon degree is what the world calls wisdom.
Reply:Here's some photos of one I just made a minute ago. I have 45 degree marks on the iron worker for quick reference. Notice that you dont have to weld prep the corners. Attached ImagesCommon sense in an uncommon degree is what the world calls wisdom.
Reply:Nice method and demo. The notcher we had where I used to work had an adjustable material guide that allowed you to set whatever angle was required making the process even a little easier/faster.MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base! |
