im working on a project that requires me to do some welding in my front yard. my question is do i need to have some type of permit to weld out there or is it ok to just do it?
Reply:Giving us a location of where your front yard is might help some... In general in most parts of the USA welding in public is legal and will not require permission. For the welding that is the thing you are building might.
Reply:Stranger things have happened. Do you live in some development with a hoard of CC&R's ? Personally I wouldn't live somewhere where such a permit was required but the human creatures need to regulate anything and everything conceivable just might have created such a code in your local.
Reply:im welding right in my drive way i dont have a garage and im welding body panels on a 72 f100.
Reply:i think osha says flash protection is required for people within 40 feet, but osha dont apply to hobbyists and work at home.
Reply:Would be nice if you put up a curtain or something or some type of sight blocker, just for your neighbors sake. Unless you don't like them.
Reply:I would just make sure you are at least aware of people around you. If your neighbors are outside, you could let them know so they (and possibly their kids) don't stare at the bright light..Esab TradeMaster TorchSmith AW1A Airline TorchLincoln AC/DC 225/125Millermatic 252 w/ Spoolmatic 15aThermal Arc 190 GTSSpeedGlas 9100v
Reply:We have regular fire bans over here. There are lots of days in summer when I assume outdoor welding is banned (along with BBQs etc).Yeah, I carry.House keys, wallet, some change, usually a newspaper, maybe a pen. |
