I have recently begun trying to weld and am having issues finding suggested settings for my welder. I have aMiller XMT 300 CCconnected to a suitcase Miller 12VS MIG 400 am profax torch. I have found the settings used in the manuals on how to control wire speed but have no idea on how to set the heat or arc strength. On the sheet for the suitcase, in the manual, it describes knowing arc voltage and wire speed? Are these listed somewhere for different thickness metals that I have missed.I am sure this is a stupid question but I would appreciate any help anyone could give.
Reply:Welding parameters will differ dependent on the consumablesused, eg: solid wire, cored, gassless, dual shield etc, the welding position, base material type / section and thickness, Lincoln provides excellent welding parameter guidelines, the internet or your local bookshop will help.Good luck
Reply:Right - Well I am using .035 flux core wire. The material i am welding on is some 16 guage 2" round stock. I have to weld it to a 1/4" think piece as well and to itself.

Reply:Your wire manufacturer will also most likely have setting parameters listed on their website for that particular wire. Lincoln, Hobart and ESAB all provide that info.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op
