I am almost finished welding my ritisserie, have an HF 40# pressure type sandblaster that I will use to get all mil scale off (areas that weren't welded). What type of primer/paint should I use on it?
Reply:Dupont Imron 5000, see your jobber, he will set you up with the DTM primer and topcoat.Good hard paint that is durable. Pricey but you should not need too much.Maybe drag it over to a bodyshop and they will paint for you, know anyone that works or owns a bodyshop?????I have seen guys, apply the material with a brush with good results too.Imron will stand up to the elements if you ever store it outside!!Hope this helps. There's a method to the madness, disregard the method and the madness begins!!
Reply:High Temp Rustoleum will work fine for you.
Reply:Powder Paint it, use a infrared propane heater as the heat source

Reply:I'm anxiously waiting for the reply to that last statement
Reply:Well I am thinking that this guy has a fair amount of time invested building the rotisseri, spelled that wrong did'nt I. So if it were me, I would go the extra distance and finish the job with a good quality paint job. There's a method to the madness, disregard the method and the madness begins!!
Reply:Actually, I am able to store it inside...
Reply:Brad-man, one of the RX7 Forum members lives near you and is able to powder paint and cure with the infra-red heaters. I can check and see if he could help you out. John
Reply:That would be cool to investigate, my only concern is having no way to transport it...
Reply:Like I have said, with infrared heaters he can come to you
Reply:I like Por 15 or Mastercoat brand paint. Its not cheap but can be paint right on rusty or sandblasted surfaces. |
