Reply:Cool. I saw your welding on that 'other' bb. This is an inspiration, it's what I want to end up doing, my collection is getting there.... someday!Nice job!!
Reply:Yup you guys are lucky to able to get used parts that are rust free, quite the different stuff that I get to work with, if I got a used cab like that it would require minimim 20 hours of bodywork, you know, floors, pilllars all rusted out.Looking forward to more pic Sberry-doing anything fancy on the final paint, ie two tone or striping etc. There's a method to the madness, disregard the method and the madness begins!!
Reply:Nope, gonna be plain as can be. A guy near here has a huge truck salvage yard. The old cab was rotted fom city salt use. Where there was work to this one it was minor and localized and the rest was rock solid. I just finished the metal repair to one door just now and had only one bad spot. It took most of the day but its solid as new. Ready for paint work, the other one is bout done too. My hinges are excellent and these things thump nice when they close. I am going to beef up my bumper though, after this I dont want some deer in the corner. I will be glad when this is over, at some point it will gel. We did pull the oil pan but we didnt do anything to the bottom end. Any gaskets we could get, any shady hoses, new belts, brake lines etc. Water pump looked good and we reman the starter. New injectors and exhaust pipe. The only other thing we didnt touch is driveline. It all seemed to be workng with clean fluids, will change though. The rest of this truck is reman. With I could afford to hire Big for a week,, ha.www.urkafarms.com
Reply:I thought about it this morn, Even paying myself a modest salery of 5000 I am going to have less than half for a reman than for a new one.www.urkafarms.com
Reply:This was certainly less than the idea truk in some respects but it is going to do exactly what I want it to.www.urkafarms.com |
