help unkown welder

just got a as far as i can figure a starline 180 model 10-404 ac welder i got it in trade i knwo nothing about this welder i looking for info on it maybe a lionk to the manual or company its a stick welder

Reply:It looks like there is an address on the bottom of the data plate.Have you tried to Google the company?Rex

Reply:I don't think Marquette is around anymore(got bought out and then the company that bought'em out went under?) I been looking for any links at all for a manual for this welder or even any old posts,seems like a dead end,I hope maybe someone else will have better luck,at least you have that recommended guide on that plate to help you when you wanna do some welding.
Reply:well i apreciate any help i can get it works really well i did some practice with some 3/32 7018 and it never had an issue so if any one can help please do id love to knwo more about it
Reply:If you find that manual there not going to be that much info in it. All there is to one of those wel;ders is a transformer and a switch. I don't even think those had a fan, may it does I can't remember. That also means that harldy anything ever goes wrong. If the switch ever goes bad I thing a little digging would turn up something newer that would work, or you could get fancy and install a toggle switch and a contactor.Tough as nails and damn near as smart

Reply:That is a tapped transformer that makes AC in 5 amp increments, choose any welding rod ending in a digit other than 0 and 5 which are for DC positive, and it will run just fine. Good for lots of different rods like E6011, E7014, E7018AC or E7024 in the flat position, I bet it runs E6013 like a dream! City of L.A. Reply:Hey I have a starline powerpack model 14-400.  I haven't found a single thing online for any kind of information on this unit either!  I do know that it is something that I found on a load of junk coming in to the junkyard close here, I asked the old guy if I could have it, if for nothing else it was cute and thought I could make a clock out of it for the shop. I come to find out that it is one of the handiest little welding machines I have ever seen!!! I know it is small, but wow does it pack a punch for it's size! If your's is anything like this one, you will be happy with it for small jobs where a big guy is just too much! Mine looks like a mini version of the older lincolns like my 250, but with 3 ranges - low medium and high, and the work lead port.  I wish I could find more info on it, but I am very happy with it so far!
