Well this is my first project. I hated when my bandsaw would wobble so I made a new one. I still have to paint it so I am open to suggestions for modification. Attached Images
Reply:woops forgot pic
Reply:Why wont they load?
Reply:let me try another Attached Images
Reply:Ok here I made a tab to hold one of the tools on the saw. Attached Images
Reply:Nice stand Dman, mine's still waiting for new legs.
Reply:Is there a special primer I should use or can I use any name brand primer for new steel.
Reply:I use Rustoleum auto primer on clean steel.  Make sure you wipe it down with mineral spirits, paint thinner, acetone, etc first though.
Reply:Not to be critical but, aren't the legs a little narrow  vs. the height?  It looks like it may tip over easy, say when you are pushing a length of material through to the next cut??  Would it make sense to spread the legs out at the bottom.
Reply:Well I am going to test it and if it does I will change it. Somehow
Reply:Good job Dman,I keep a can of Rustolium primer and black paint in the shop.  If it is in the shop, it will get dinged up sooner or latter so don't spent too much on paint.  I just try to slow down the rust and sometimes don't even prime.
Reply:Have you thought about casters, so you could move it around easier?  Looks good so far, nice work. Thanks, Geoff
Reply:Yeah I am Thinking how to do it I might go with this idea. Attached Images

Reply:That last picture looked familiar. I wiped mine down with acetone, primed with "Rustoleum Rusty metal" primer. then painted with Restoleum blue that I had left over from my "Plasma buggy.I'd put wider cross members on the bottom, It will probably get unstable if you cut long stock.Cutter:Don't you relize that the Gobberment found that exposure to "Red Lead" can cause brain damage. I believe they painted congress with it for their study, and the results are evident!!!
Reply:Well I got it done I added longer and wider legs. So far I like it I can move it anywhere. Attached Images

Reply:And the last one. Attached Images
Reply:Don that looks real good. What color are you going to paint it?
Reply:Actually it is painted I used rust-oleum Gray Hammered. Attached Images
Reply:Very creative on the design change.  I like that kind of thinking.  Maybe a little shelf on the extension so you could rest your foot on it as you watch your handy- work in action?
Reply:LOL thanks Slagking I was thinking about a shelve but didn't do it.
Reply:Dman,Very nice job.  It is nice to see a new design.  If you made a little box out of wood or mettal, and put it on your little extention for cutoff scraps,  that wood be real slick, and keep the shop cleanerer.   I have a little pile in my shop that never sees a broom.
Reply:Sorry about that (old eyes) I thought that you'd done a really good job cleaning the tubing The Hammertone grey looks better than my leftover blue.Nice stand Dman, but i think i'd go with flajim cross peace's on the bottom, other than that its real nice!!!
Reply:Opps i guess i didn't see page 2 sorry about that!!! looks really nice. Did u have any trouible with it cutting stright?
Reply:Very nice, Don.  I am impressed.  However, I doubt that those "knees" would hold up under weight of my old Craftsman.  I brought it home yesterday & was amazed at the weight of that old turkey.  I had forgotten how heavy it is after having it on the same bench for 10 years.
Reply:Nice job Don.  I've really got to do that for mine.
Reply:What source are you using for locking castors?  All of them around here are so expensive.
Reply:harbor freight is a cheap source
Reply:Well I bought them at TSC but they aren't cheap. The ones I got don't lock either.
Reply:I just bought some casters from HF to replace the ones on my lifting welding table.  Steel centers, rated for 350lbs and although not locking, they where less then 3 dollars each.  Made a big difference as the old casters where solid plastic and would "give" to much if direction was change.
