Someone wanted to see pictures of my LA. I won't say who because then you can't blame him for me putting these pictures on the project site. So as to not blame me either, I'll also include a couple pictures of this tractor with a trailer I made for it last fall. It's a nice little trailer flatbed with removable rails. The rails are for the kids and their friends to hold onto when we go for rides about the city. Attached Images
Reply:Here is the project trailer hooked up to the tractor. It was made from an old camping tent trailer that was wrecked and left at the side of the road. Only the axle and the back one foot and the coupler, where used. The rest I rebuilt. Attached Images
Reply:Woops,,,darn it you can't really see the trailer. So sorry. I'll try again. I just don't understand how that picture got posted accidently on purpose like that. Anyway here is the trailer and behind it and the "41" LA is my "48" B. Attached Images
Reply:That trailer has highway tires on it, and I made a light bar that hooks on the back, if I need it for on the road. I have another trailer and use it on the road instead. It's 4 foot by 6 foot in size. Also the tractor I used to pull it into the pictures with is a "41" LA that was bought new by my grandfather. It's (built) birthdate is Sept 17. I learned to drive on it. At the age of 8. I have a handmade (by my father) snowplow, plow, set of harrows, and a handmade (by yours truly) lawn roller, and of course the trailer.
Reply:Slag, it sure seems to me like the cultivator set is missin off that LA. The sad thing is I remember when that tractor, without a suspension seat, was considered a great machine to cultivate with. NO, that damn cushion does NOT count as a suspension! Neither did a handfull of burlap bags.Appreciation Gains You Recognition-
Reply:I forgot to say, that the lift for the snowplow uses a cultivator front lifting jig and a rear plow lifting handle because the rear cultivator lifting handle and brackets where stolen about 25 years ago, along with the shovels. It's true, that before that happened, it was a great cultivating machine. In my youth, I plowed and cultivated hundreds of gardens with this tractor. When my friends where doing paper routes and making a couple dollars a week, I was making 20 dollars or more working on Sat. afternoons. Gas back then was less the 30 cents a gallon and with the tank full on that little LA. I could do several gardens, plowing and harrowing, for endless weekends it seems, before I had to fill it back up. Awww. the yesterdays!! Still doing the same thing today anyway. I remember hearing it's engine far off, when my grandfather would be working it. Sometimes, one of my brothers will take it for a little drive, I just sit and listen. It's a different sound when your not on it driving. It's a sound from the past then. Well enough of that.
Reply:Thanks for sharing. I know little about old tractors but I do enjoy seeing the ones someone cares about.-D

Reply:Hey Slagking one question,, you going on "Tractorcade"?Rich
Reply:Caliber...Not likely to, only because of time. I have little kids at home. I have done several "Ragbai's, which for the uneducated is the annual bike ride across Iowa. In fact, I think I have been in Independence on that ride, but not sure. Anyway, as for taking this little tractor on the Tractorcade, yeah I would if I could, but I can't. |
