Looking for a little feedback on how my beads are looking. The machine is a Hobart HH140 and I'm using Hobart flux-core .030" wire. Heat setting 3 and wire speed is right around 40.
Reply:Looks like your wire feed may be a little bit too high from all the spatter.Welds look good for a beginner though, I'd say.Pretty uniform, and good fusion at the toes.Just try to get that spatter down.Either increase the voltage (heat setting I'd presume), or decrease the wire feed. However, it also could be your travel angle.Try to keep it as at 90 degrees to the work piece if you can... but I know that's not ideal, so like a 5-10 degree drag is good too. (If you're already doing this, then you'll have to lower your wire feed/increase heat)
Reply:Awesome. Thanks for the feedback. I was attributing the spatter to the flux core wire, but I'll turn down my wire speed a little and see what I get. |
