Hi AllI'm new here and finishing my 289 Cobra. I built the chassis 4".125 wall main tubes 3/4 .080 round tube for the bird cage. It's a long story on this car, I restored a original 289 Cobra and it had a glass body since 1966 i replaced the glass body with a original alum. FIA body. I bought the class body from the owner and duplicated the original chassis but with 427 Cobra suspension... I built a 21 gal 0.50 Alum. fuel tank.. I welded the chassis with mig/stick/tig to give it that vintage look. If you ever seen a original Cobra chassis you'll know what it talking about. Mike/Map351   Attached Images

Reply:Very cool that you're doing this. One of the top things on my list of things to do in this lifetime is to build my own race car. I'm curious about the design, though. It looks like there are some places that would benefit from more triangulation. I know that clearance is a major concern, but this design seems to rely almost exclusively on the main rails for torsional rigidity. Is this a copy of the original design?
Reply:Looks like you've taken great pains to make it original looking as possible... You wouln't know where a 427 side oiler was... would you?? Niiiiice
Reply:Man I'm so damn jealous!! Those are truely the finest car ever made!! I'm sure you spend plenty of time over on Club Cobra too!
