Need to ship a differential across country. Have knocked together crates out of scrap lumber before, but thought maybe I'd practice with my MM175 and build one out of 1-1/2" square tube. Thinking butted right angle joints, with a couple of rails across the bottom frame to take the weight, and angled rails sitting across them to locate the pumpkin and keep it from moving around much. Also thinking of skinning the sides of the crate with cardboard to make it look more like a box to the shipper. It's the top I'm wondering about. Best idea so far is to do it with plywood. Is there a tool that'll make a spiral-speed nut type hole in the top rails to screw the top to? Any other thoughts on a removable top for a square tube crate?
