Anyone have any idea how to weld silver to 316L ? I have a customer that is looking to have these two metals joined, with tig or RSEW weld technology, but everything I read says this is a no no.Thank you for your advise.
Reply:I would look first to silver brazing. We silver braze hundreds of parts a day to stainless here.
Reply:The solution is to use a silver solder which will bond to both without melting either material. The choice of which to use depends partly on the application, as some alloying materials such as Cadmium aren't allowed for some uses. |
