I have a Northern Tool TECMEN welding helmet. This one, specifically:[ame]http://www.amazon.com/Northern-Industrial-Solor-Powered-Auto-Darkening-Welding/dp/B0007LKZZC/[/ame]My helmet was acting funny today- it would come down further than my chin, and I'd be staring at the top inside of the helmet instead of through the lens.So I took a look at it when I got home... apparently there are two little ridges that stop the helmet rotating, and keep it at chin level.... They seem to have been destroyed. I guess it must be the sparks, or maybe the heat, I don't know...Anyway, I checked the Northern Tool website and they don't seem to have replacement parts for sale. I think all I need would be that headband assembly but it seems specially made for that helmet, I don't know...What should I do? Can I replace this somehow?I mean... in the meantime, I'm going to have to get the school-supplied fixed-shade and go old-school... and I'm practicing running beads on 5G pipe I'm checking if the headband in the backup helmet will fit this one... I don't know, I might have to jerry-rig it or something... Attached ImagesKeeping it down in the hood...literally!
Reply:Hm... The other helmet's headband should work with my regular helmet, if I can just secure the side of it so that it doesn't move.Would super glue be safe to use here? I don't want it to catch a spark somehow (somehow...) and then end up burning my ear off...Keeping it down in the hood...literally!
Reply:Apparently the proper word is "headgear".Excuse my ignorance.Would I be able to find a headgear that may work at my local Airgas, or are they truly different from welding helmet to welding helmet?Keeping it down in the hood...literally! |
