Looking for a 40x40 or a 40x50 steel buildign for shop use.
Reply:CPFI've never done business with any of these companies but I'm also looking.http://www.indacometals.com/index.htmlhttp://www.us-buildings.com/
Reply:http://www.olympiabuildings.comcompany looks pretty good
Reply:I got mine from www.steelbuilding.com.  went right together with no problems.  Mine is 24x28 but you basically design whatever you want right on their website.
Reply:I have a 25 x 32 from pioneersteel.com
Reply:Here is a site I have been looking at:http://www.steelbuildingsupplier.com/index.cfmThey have great looking buildings at great prices.
Reply:if you call the us-buildings they may have some discounted buildings.  I somehow got on there calling list a few years ago so if they have a building that someone decieded they did not want you can buy it for real cheap.  so I would say give them a call and leave your name with one of the salesmen.
Reply:If the county in which you live requires a building permit, you might want to make sure your building supplier includes in the price plans that are signed by an engineer qualified to do so by your county.  The company should also be able to provide structural calculations to the county as well for no extra costs.  The building's foundation plans should be included as well.Should any or all of the above be missing yet required by the county, things will get very expensive very fast.  Shipping should also be included in your price.  I got the plans from my building supplier first (non-refundable but deducted from the price if I bought the building), got a no hassle building permit, and then ordered the rest of the building.I used pioneersteel.com.  Others provide the same service, and some do not.  I have no connection whatsoever with pioneersteel.com other than beeing a satisfied customer.Regards,Bill Vorhies
Reply:I have a friend that sells some of them. I do some of the plumbing and wiring in the ones he sells. If you want I can get you a price, if for nothing but comparing. DavidDavid
Reply:David that would be awesome.  Its for my brother in law, and he is looking for a 40x40 or 40x50, he found a 40x50 i believe righht under 7k but they are in Wisc and we are in Central Tx, so frieght would be an issue.  His father worked here at Alamo steel for a long time, and wondering if with his connections, if buying material outright and constructing from scratch would be much of a problem.  Again thank you for the quote offer.Ryan

Reply:prefab won't stand a change in the wind, get off your lazzy toit and build ya one!
Reply:Well how do you know the home built ones will stand the wind?  At least the prefab ones should be engineered.  As for our buildings, we've got both.
Reply:I agree about having the buildiung pre engineered.  The wind calcs are figured in.  Some small ones are built truss style from steel and they are ok but as they get bigger, wider and taller there are several dynamics in play.  I used Star, but may have shopped had it been a different era. Reply:Hey I just checked this thread Feb 18th. 7000 sounds like a good price to me,pretty cheap.I don't know the brand, but I can find out for you if you like. I talked with him today and he wanted me to wire one for him. The building was a 40x60 looked pretty nice it had a higher than normal roof line(5/12 I think). I didn't ask what it cost. I 'm going back over there tommorrow , if I can remember it ,I'll take the camera and get a picture of it and you can see what it looks like. If I had some place to put it I'd get one, it was a nice size. DavidDavid
Reply:I bought a 40X60 pre-fab from Wright Building Systems.  They apparantly have an arrangement with several steel places so that I was able to have mine fabricated in Houston.  When it was ready, I took my 30' gooseneck and went to pick up the kit.  It went together with out a hitch.  I saw a bunch of bargain places and local people building Pipe buildings and I opted to spend a little more for the peace of mind of having an engineered building.  Not to mention from an insurance standpoint, if it isn't engineered and something happens, you probably will not be covered.  I just dug up my card on them, their number is 800-336-6120.  They were the best price I found for an engineered building.  Customer service was great, they sent me multiple sets of plans and were readily available for any questions I had.  I think the building Kit cost about $9,000 (fully insulated, 8 windows, 12' sidewalls 1/12 pitch roof, and 1 walk door).  I went local for the garage doors.  Total cost to build was about $22,000.  I built it 3 years ago and have had no problems.  I do however hate the bolts that you have to set in concrete, even with a pattern, they are a witch to get right.  I think I would go with weld plates if I had to do it over again.  Good luck!
Reply:I am just wondering if any y'all out there have or know of plans for home built type metal shop buildings.  More or less looking for something kind of a guide for determining choice of material,  bracing for spans,  ect.     Appreciate any helpCHRIS
Reply:We have a Kirby building 80X200 it's a great building I'm not sure what we paid for just the building but the whole project including  land was 425,000 http://www.kirbygo.com/
Reply:I just built one that withstood two direct hits from hurricanes this summer in Florida.  It is rated to 130 mph. It got at least that much and didn't leak a drop.  I am a little worried about rust , however.  Is there a good product to coat the steel with to slow it down?  The skin is painted but the beams have spots that are missing paint.
Reply:Can some one tell me how to post a picture?
