Reply:I ended up buying a scrolling attatchment for an HF bender.  I needed the scrolls so I could dress up a plant hanger I made for the wife.  Now that I have it I was considering other projects.  Thanks for your thoughts.
Reply:Buy, or take out from the library, some books about real blacksmiths- there are lots of amazing things made using scrolls over the last 800 years or so, but mostly all we see are screen doors from some factory, with scrolls bent out of 1/8" flat bar. A few books to look at:Architectural Ironwork, by Dona Meilach. She has several other books about ironwork as well. This places sells a lot of cool, but expensive books about european ironwork-http://www.artisanideas.comThe italian and german books are always amazing, but very expensive.Another good source of books about blacksmithing is Norm Larson Books- he is a great guy, and all he sells is metalworking books- his address is on here-http://www.abana.org/resources/educa...ks/index.shtmlDover books republishes old books very cheaply, and they have lots and lots of books about ironwork, usually from 10 to 20 bucks each- Many big bookstores carry dover books, or you can buy online from them. Here is bunch of their ironwork books- http://search.store.yahoo.com/cgi-bi...query=ironworkI notice you are in washington state- if you are up near bellingham, Hendersons Books has a ton of new dover books, and usually some used books on ironwork. If you are down near Portland, Powells is an amazing bookstore, with a whole separate technical building with metals and other technical books- lots of used books there on ironwork designs. You can get hundreds of ideas from just one of the dover books- they are all pictures, no text, usually.

Reply:Wow!! Thanks for all the different information and sites, invaluable.
Reply:Harbor freight has some small projects in the back of thier manual for the bender they market.I if recall correctly it included a few patterns.Go to harbor freight, pull up the metalworking tool group, then the bender. Once you have the bender displayed, a manual file can be opened. The scolling info is at the end of the manual which you can down load and print for future reference.
