Looking at an older 3 point case 2 bottom slat plow.  Doesn't have a full curved moldboard but curved slats with gaps in between.  They were for a stickier soil type and pulled easier than full moldboard plows. One slat was broken off at the end and the piece was missing.  Was wondering what type of steel it would be made of (or a moldboard for that matter).  Also what welding technique would be best to weld a piece back on.  Seems as though plow moldboards are a higher carbon steel but can't nail the info down as of yet.  Thought maybe some of you here might know the details.
Reply:Company I work for builds moldboard plows, the moldboards are A36 plate. The share (cutting edge) is a heat treated higher grade steel.Ranger 250 GXTSmith Gas Axe
