I was just thinking about how much places charge for lens covers for welding lids and it pisses me off especially because I go through so many. So I'm at home last night looking through some old boxes when I come across about 100 cd cases I no longer have use for. Well now I have use for em, I cut to the size of a lens cover and presto, cheap covers. A simple score of the plastic with a ruler and they snap to size. So yah there's my tip, hope you guys can make use of it.
Reply:That's a good tip. But what kind of welding are you doing where you're going through so many lenses?I weld almost every day and a lot of what I do involves galvanized material, a lot of splatter. And I can't remember the last time I changed out a lense.I'm wondering if you're using an electronic where you push a button and it goes from weld to grind and you're grinding with your hood down. Or if you're doing mig on thin gauge stuff and have your face down close because your puddle is so small.life is good
Reply:Thanx for the tip - I've got 100's of those cases and do need to replace the covers on my 2 helmets. Will give it a try.
Reply:why dont you use clear 2"shipping tape across the lens works fine.!!
Reply:If I remmeber correctly, I purchased some for like .13 cents on weldingdepot.com. I remember they had a $25 minimum order and I ony need to add .05 cents to make the order so I got the clear lens protectors.Mike |
