Someone some where once told me that with a remote amp control, i.e. foot pedal or thumb wheel, you can ease off the heat at the end of weld and produce a nice ty in without having to roll the arc away from weld. I have tried this every way I can think of with the same result. A nice fish eye. Is there a trick I'm missing?? Currently I'm tigging small pieces and would like to avoid having to roll the arc at finish being that is always produces some scaring on parts.Miller TrailBlazer 251Miller HF-250-1Miller MaxStar 150 STLHyperTherm PowerMax 380 plasmaLincoln PowerMig 180Millermatic 252Miller Diversion 180
Reply:keep moving forward as you let off the pedal instead of sitting in one spot while you gradually reduced the heat to avoid the fisheye. I do that and walk it off to at least just outside the toe of the weld if i'm doing something that matters.

Reply:Also, don't forget to add a little filler as you start to let it cool. Add more than you think you need, because it will shrink as it cools. |
