i have a century 170 gs welder that had a crack in the gas tubing that's inside the welder. ok so i removed it to replace it and i can't find the tubing anywhere. where do you guys buy this stuff, i know someone has replaced the tubing before. it's 2.5mm id and 4mm od and it's sort of stiff and smooth. Also the regulator i got at airgas has a male threaded adapter and i have to get it to fit this tubing. what's the deal ? what do you guys use to adapt it? the guy at airgas basically told me to jerry rig it . i'd rather have real adapaters. btw the plastic tubing fits into push fittings that hold it. i tried the closest tubing i could find at the local hardware store and it's just a hair too big.
Reply:The plastic hose is going to be difficult to find. I have had several people wanting to change the flowmeter they use but had a difficult time finding the fittings. I have taken the old push in fitting off the old unit and made an adaptor for the new flowmeter. My guess is you will have come up with some way to adapt the connection at the gas solenoid in the machine and use a different size hose.Parts for alot of these inexpensive welder are very hard to find.OAdoctorwww.regulatortorchrepair.com
Reply:use some type of pipe clamp or zip ties, I imagine that it'll do the job.
Reply:haha yea the guy at airgas told me to stick the small tubing into the normal tubing and hose clamp it. i guess i'll do that i'm probably going to replace the welder soon anyways. thanks alot guys
Reply:oh yea and there's no solenoid it's the valve in the gun and i already removed the tubing from the gun all the way down and into the welder and out the back. i think i've found a tubing on ebay that will work though. it'll be here next week we'll see if it fits in the push fittings
