I was going to buy the econotig and seen 180 sd for only 300.00 more.I will be welding sheet metal, light aluminum and some stainless.I have room in my sub panel for the 180.Any help would be appreciated.
Reply:Don't remember the details but I can recall a thread or two that addressed this comparison. Might have been over on the Miller or Hobart boards. Anyway, as I recall the conclusion was that the Econotig had some limitations and that the 180 was a much better machine, well worth the additional $$$.You might want to try a search of those other boards.TinkerCentury 135GS, ThermalArc 250GTS
Reply:RCA,i have an econotig. it has done the job oneverything that i have welded. at the time ibought it, miller did not have the 180, or i might have bought it. all of my welding is lightmaterial, and with tig you have more control.if you have need for a larger amp welder in yourfuture, go with the bigger machine.good luck with your projects.wlbrown |
