Alright so this is my idea.. i have a ATV Polaris and i am gonna take the engine out and build a go-kart frame around the engine its automatic ...do you think this would come out right? im not sure if i should try or not? i know engines so i would be able to do and everything but what do you think of the idea?

Reply:Infernal combustion is infernal combustion.MZ (the "other" German motorcycle company) Used a Yamaha Raptor ATV engine for thier Baghira motorcycles. It works well, and is much nicer than the engine in Kawasaki's similar KLR.Motorsport engines tend to have cams with lots of valve overlap, which makes for touchy tuning. You'll want to keep the header pipe (between cylinder and muffler, if used) the same total length and diameter as stock.  Even a different muffler can change tuning significantly. Re-jetting can restore the baseline mixture, but exhaust resonance can cause flat-spots (AKA stumbling) in the throttle response.Make sure the engine gets some cooling air. Most liquid cooled ATV engines are best discribed as "liquid augmented" cooling...they still depend on finned cylinders and case dissipation to help out the radiator. The water cooling helps out the hot spots in the head, and also allows temps to be stabalized using a thermostat.

Reply:Here's my thought...What are you trying to acomplish with this setup ?A power house of a slow moving Kart or a high speed thing through gearing ?As stated before watch the frame, build for the toraure of the take off.Ltr,NnF
