I am in the process of tooling out our new shop. just thought I would post a few pics. Attached Images
Reply:A few more Attached Images
Reply:Hey, that shop should be divided up and shared!!!!! Pretty darn nice, pretty nice. With a shop like that, a cot and a shower, I wouldn't need a house (except for the lil woman).
Reply:Thanx Sandy. I am proud of the equipment that I have put together and the shop itself has come out better than expected. I should be ready to start cutting down trailers by tomorrow and I will be posting before, in progress and after pics. Oh yea by the way i'll post pics of the shower also
Reply:I particularly like the rounded off corners of your bench. Square corners on benches suck. Looks good and stout. Nice sized shop, good to keep things organized Any chance I could get a few pics of that pro-fax spool gun in action? or the welds you've made with it? Nice shop man, nice Someday! happy projects! Reply:Man i dont know what i would do with a shop like that. Very nice... the only thing i would do different is put a little more red in and take out some blue
Reply:Sparkeee below are a few pics of aluminum welding using the pro fax spool gun running 3/64 5356 wire. I will try to get some steel pic also. Attached Images
Reply:I wanted to post a pic of the completed welding table. The tread plate is just sitting on top of the table. The table top is just plain 3/4" plate. the Tread plate looks cool on top and for a brief second I considered welding it on but I thought the bumps would hinder layout on the table and that a flat surface would be much better. Reply:I'm in the process of building a table, what are the pros and cons of painting the top? Also, I have steel wheels and rubber ones. Does it make any difference?I do my welding outdoors under cover - winters in Sydney are pretty mild.
Reply:How do you like that milwaukee saw. It is a dry cut saw correct? not an abrasive saw?
Reply:yes good eye atrain. I was mad because my vendor delivered the dry cut instead of the basic chop saw I ordered. I thought he was just trying to run me up. After using it a couple of times I love it. It cuts smooth burr-less cuts and you can hold the part to your cheek right after the cut. It truly cuts cold. One draw back the blades are $100 a shot. They seem to be durable though. I even called him back and told him he was right and the saw cuts great. He said told you so of course.
Reply:Scott I would not paint the table top. If you decide to you will have problems grounding thru the paint. Another thing while welding or cutting the paint will melt and burn and generally make a mess. I always keep my table tops bare metal. After a while the will get build up of splatter and I just re- surface with a soft pad sander or grind flat with a grinder. I have always had foremans tell me not to be stopping the grinder on the table top but when grinding the only alternative is to stop it on the part you grinding, the floor or wait for it to stop and I know you average foreman don't want you to wait. I guess you could keep a piece of plate on the table to stop on. I just stop on the table. As far as the wheels I have never put wheels on any of my tables. the steel wheels will not feel smooth as they roll but may hold up better. If I was guessing I would use the larger ones no matter steel or rubber.
Reply:Scott. you might find that a light dusting of semi-gloss black will help. Because its real light, you dont usually have grounding problems but it will enable you to see your layout marks much better and it also will prevent the spatter from sticking so hard. Our shop has 4 tables, 2 of them get painted, the others just get worked on and collect clutter
Reply:Thansk for the replies Robby T and tek.Scott
Reply:Nice shop ,table, welds, welder and is that a sand trailer i see in the back ground, built one six ,seven years ago. WELDERS GET BETTER PENETRATION
Reply:Thanx Kelly I will take the complement on the welds as coming from some one of high authority. The trailers in the background are 39' Aluminum end dumps. You built one from scratch or working for a trailer mfg.? Or maybe I misunderstood. Your steel welding is some of the best I have ever seen and it has been no short time.
Reply:dang you have alot of wire in the back ground of that first picture that would hold me over for years |
