Is silver solder expensive , also what temp is melting point compared to regular brazing rod, thanks Jim
Reply:I can't speak to price, Gremlin, but silver (hard) solder melts in the lower range of brazing temps. My silver solders melt from 1240-1365 deg F. My Brazing rods run from 1150ish to 1800ish deg F. In fact, some of the brazing rods have a high silver content. Reply:The 15% silfloss nickel silver solder rods are running about $3.50 a piece right now. I use them for refrigeration systems and for SS brazing. I stick the scraps together at that cost and use it ALL!!!And then, after so much work...... you have it in your hand, and you look over to your side...... and the runner has run off. Leaving you holding the prize, wondering when the runner will return. |
