Reply:If you want to weld pipe, your going to have to learn to get good with stick and tig. Most pipe is welded with DC stick and tig.Lincoln has a quality program (in Ohio) for welding pipe that i have heard good things about.JasonLincoln Idealarc 250 stick/tigThermal Dynamics Cutmaster 52Miller Bobcat 250Torchmate CNC tableThermal Arc Hefty 2Ironworkers Local 720
Reply:ATI http://www.auto.edu is the school I attend and they run you through SMAW MIG and TIG to include pipe, fluxcore, structural, maritime, blue print reading, math, and will also pay for your 6G certification testing which is for pipe if you don't know. The only other place that I know of that specializes in pipe is Westinghouse's nuclear pipe welding school and the only detail I know about it is that you sign a contract to work for them for 2000 hours.
Reply:By the way, one of our evening classes has 8 out of 10 students who passed the 6G cert and they are waiting on the other 2 to hand in their pieces for testing.
Reply:You can check out the Hobart school in Troy, OH. Their website is www.welding.org.
Reply:You shouldnt have a problem finding a pipe welding job thats done with pulsed MIG or fluxcore.Have we all gone mad?

Reply:I've worked with a lot of pipe welders that went through the Tulsa Welding School. All were good at it.The difference between art and craft is the quality of the workmanship. I am an artist. |
