My friend has a plow that goes on the back of a tractor and he bent it when he hit a rock. We're trying to bend it out enough to weld on a large piece of angle to keep it straight. Any ideas on how to bend it back? We tried putting it on the tractor and pushing it between 2 trees, but it popped back out. And we'd need a fire hotter than hell to get it pliable.Happy Thanksgiving,Brad

Reply:Brad:you are talking right up my alley here, I will help what I can but first can you tell me:just what is bent on the plow? the main beam ?  a shank ?  Hitch?what type of plow is it ? JD  IH ?how heavy is the piece that is bent?is it a tube ? or a solid ?can you post a picture ?I will check back later J.W.
Reply:Here is a sketch I made of the plow. It is made of metal about 1/4" thick, about 18" tall, and 5-6' wide. Attached Images
Reply:if that part is bolted on  I would remove it and take it to a press to straighten if not, try useing a hydraulic porta power and a chain  to bridge it and press it on the plow. I would say that it is under built if it is only 1/4 material  after you get it straight I would reinforce it with a couple of straps welded on as a tee on the back side probably at least 3/8 or 1/2 by 3 material. Good luck:J.W.
