I've decided to drop the training program now while I wont have a huge loan to repay the lender.  I can't jump from one type of welding to another to another and having difficulties with figuring out what to do its driving me nuts so I will be submitting an application to try and get into the BAE systems apprenticeship program come this April.  If I get in I'll be back.
Reply:Ok I'm going to pull back on this a bit because it was a hasty decision.  I work full time midnights and go to school full time plus family and caring for my father and couple that with being sick right now plus daughters school play rehearsal I'm suffering from exhaustion and fatigue with little sleep.  Tigs a bitch theres no getting around it and if I dont get it I dont get it because I can mig weld decent and have 2/3 of stick down at the moment and I dont really see any tig job postings anywhere around here except at bike and car shops and that line of work is feast or famine so I wont worry about tig.  Either way I'm going to stick this out and still look for the apprenticeship program because at least this bit of crammed training will give me some knowledge and what I get from here and another site will help even more.  Winter break starts next week and I plan to get as much sleep as I can over 11 days.

Reply:i like my huntsman 951p. $40 or so, cant recall..i keep the clear plates changed out when they get scratched, i use a gold lens (#9) ,,its fun flipping it down when you're all set. the view of the puddle is real good, and thats more important than anything else. i own a cobra radnor  and it has a green tint to it, its not clear, it flashes when i tig, it sucks so hard i cant even tell you...it never comes off the hook.
