Posted another thread on the bender thing asking for helpgave some good pointersDrew some sketches and went after it
I´m building a bender similar to the HF compact benderSo far I´ve made the pedestal of 2 x 4 x 1/8 inch tube (40 inch high), 3/8 plate for the base, five dies of CR 1, 1 ¼, 1 ½, 1 ¾, and 2 inch, two u shapes of 3/8 x 2 flat bar HR, ext handle, etc.I´m planning to use a ¾ bolt for center pin and 5/8 bolts for the dies pins (all in the so called grade 8) if they prove to be too soft, I will change for CR bar. Please if somebody has one of these would you measure the distance (center to center) between the first, second and third holes and post here? Thanks a lot,
Reply:Can't help you on the dimensions. But for real hardware try your local CAT dealer. They have many grades of hardware excceding grade 8 and are reasonably priced.A couple of 170,000 PSI min tensile strength bolts 3/4" x 3 1/2" = 3B-2968 $4.24ea5/8" x 5 1/4" = 9S-3224 $4.41eaMillermatic 251Century 180 migSpectrum 625 Syncrowave 250DX
Reply:I have one of these. If someone elese doesn't get to it, I will measure mine tonight when I get home and post them for you.
Reply:I measured my HF Compact bender and the distance from the center of the first hole to center of the second hole is 1 1/2". From the second hole to the third hole the distance is 7/8" and that distance is the same for all the rest of the holes that are on that piece. There is a hole between the first and second one that is about 7/16" in diameter. It is located exactly halfway between the first two holes. Don't ask why it is there - I don't know. Someone else may be able to answer that one.I could take a pic if you need one. However it may not be until the weekend because of my schedule.ECAVE
