I have alot of hobby type projects that i have done over the years and most of them i don't paint because I like the look of the shiny steel. Is there a good clear finish or laquor that I can spray on my projects to prevent them from rusting. Preferably something that i can buy at a local hardware store. Thanks
Reply:Keep a coat of car wax ox it or coat with clear ureathane.Tough as nails and damn near as smart
Reply:Lowes or Home Depot generally carry some rattlecan brand of clear lacquer that is suitable for steel.I used a rattlecan lacquer for this project and it has retained a nice finish having been outdoors for several years. One maint. coating a year is all that is required.http://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=11941
Reply:I've been using Flood Penetrol recently as a primer. It's clear and seems really tough, dries smooth.Only drawback is 24 hr drying time. I guess time will tell. Reply:And the answer is Perma laquer, made by Peacock labs in Philly. It comes in satin, Matte and a really strong 2 part mixture. It is great stuff. It is the only stuff that can clear metal patinas. You can buy it from http://www.sculptnouveau.com/ |
