Need Help Quick!!!!!

Hey all.  My best friend is getting married thursday.  I've got the chain and shackle part of the "ball and chain" made up so far, but i'm at a loss as to what to use for the ball part of this project.  I haven't seen those round fishing anchors(ya know, the ones that are rubber coated) in a while.  they're all different configs now.  anyone have any Quick ideas for a ball? thanks ya'llTim
Reply:bowling ball?  You could use a plug with a tightening screw in it (like you find on small boats) to attach to a finger hole.

Reply:I was asked to make one of those for a wedding once. We took a plastic hamster ball, put a long bolt on the end of a section of chain,  put it in the empty ball,  filled it with concrete mix. Reply:Go to a bowling alley, find an old ball, epoxy a length of chain in a thumb hole and that's it. We painted one neon pink and made him wear it to the strip club and it glowed all night in the black lights. Lots of fun.
Reply:Just don't get carried away Babydaddy.  A real story goes like this:  Off to the bar and then the groom decides he has had enough and wants to duck out.  He is out of the bar running down the street.  He falls through a glass window when he loses balance carrying the ball.  He loses proper use of one arm, bride to be, and starts a multimillion dollar lawsuit.  Hate to be a party poop but...

Reply:my brother-in-law and i rescued a drunk groom-to-be from a motel swimming pool when his equally drunk buddies threw him into the deep end wearing a ball and chain.  They thought the sight of the poor guy trying to swim was hilarious.  I'd think twice before making something like that.  Sounds to me like a trial lawyer's fondest daydream.

Reply:Well, I'm back from the wedding and the bowling ball worked out perfectly.  I'll get a few of the pics taken and post them.  I knew i'd be hearing the horrer stories and i'm glad i didn't read them till i returned as the ball n chain wearing was very funny.  We were on an island and did some flownder giggin.  he wore the ball.  wasn't easy, but we made sure stuff was safe.  it'll get some good use as we've got another friend getting married soon.  To keep this welding related, i did some chain welding to the shackle and welded up a hinge to the shackle.  the hardest part was making the shackle round.  a lot of heating and beating, but it turned out nice.  nice and painfull.  i'm gonna need an anvil perty soon.
