Welding Connectors?

Over the years, I have seen a number of different connectors on welders.  (I have talking about the output side, not the 220V side).I have seen bolt on lug type connectors on some welders, easy to understand, but it takes a wrench and a little time to change over.My Syncrowave 200 has a 1/4 turn connector, so I can change from my stick stinger to my TIG torch in a few seconds, without tools.   Is this a "DINSE" connector?I have seen some XMT 304 welders for sale without cables; if I want to test one, would the cables off my synchrowave work?  I have seen some other types of quick connect connectors as well.What connectors are commonly used on modern welders?  Do different brands use different connectors?   I did a little web searching, but did not find it very helpful.I imagine that MIG guns use various connectors/ends as well, but I am primarily talking about stick and TIG.RichardSculptures in copper and other metalshttp://www.fergusonsculpture.comSyncrowave 200 Millermatic 211Readywelder spoolgunHypertherm 600 plasma cutterThermal Arc GMS300 Victor OA torchHomemade Blacksmith propane forge

Reply:Dinse Connectors have a square pin sticking up from the outside of the brass barrel.  It fits into a machined groove on the matching receptacle.  The Dinse connector is pushed in until the square pin reaches the back of the groove, then is twisted to lock.I have nothing against the Dinse connectors, but I switch back to the more common "Lenco" style as soon as the opprotunity comes up.From my experience, I believe that Lincoln more commonly uses output studs on older, or larger machines, that require the cable lugs.  The Invertec V-350 Pro I used had Dinse connectors.  I am not a Miller fan, so you will have to do some research on the Miller site.As for Mig guns, the "back ends" that engage the gun bushings in the machines vary from manufacturer to manufacturer.  by design, most, if not all,  do not intechangeLater,Jason
Reply:Most engine drive machines and many older shop machines use bolt-on lug connectors.  There are adaptors you can bolt on that accept Tweco cable connectors.  Not sure if there are lug-to-Dinse adaptors or not, but a set of pigtails can be easily made up to adapt lugs to Dinse.My XMT has Dinse connectors, which I purchased Dinse-to-Tweco adaptors for to use with my leads which are all Tweco.Tweco and Dinse connectors also come in 2 different sizes each and the different sizes don't fit eachother, so that is another thing to check out.Dinse seems to be most common on newer shop machines and most tig machines and shop migs with seperate feeders, whereas Tweco connectors are most commonly used by mobile rig welders working on-site.   My truck is all Tweco, whereas my shop is mixed Dinse and Tweco.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op
