Here are a few pictures of a project I recently completed. I've done several small projects like this in the past few years, but none this involved. I learned a lot from the experience and will definately apply a lot of those lessons to the next project. This is the header. Made from 1/2" mild plasma cut flanges and 1 1/4" SCH 40 pipe. This is the downpipe semi-finished and in progress. It has since been completely finished and wrapped, but I don't have some of those pictures uploaded.-Brad
Reply:interesting...the turbo looks a little too close to the front tire..but that could be just camera angle..i love stuff like that..you get all the fun jobs  ...zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:to add..as far as the pipe goes..hooker has a weld up kit thats the balls...how heavy is all that?? ...zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:Not bad, the design is definately functional. I like a simpler design with less connections and compound angles.John -  fabricator extraordinaire, car nut!-  bleeding Miller blue! http://www.weldfabzone.com
Reply:Nice job, however same observation as ZAP. WOulnd´t the tire hit the turbO?If not  gr8 job
Reply:I agree with the guys great job but is it as close to the tire as it looks  or is the a guard of some sort to go there I guess there would be although in the over head shot you can't see the wheel was it off ?Creative metal Creative metal Facebook
Reply:A couple of observations from a former racer who has installed many a turbo in my day.  Maybe you could incorporate these improvements if you ever do this again.1. Try to keep the exhaust pipes as short as possible to the compressor.  Turbo efficiency works on the theory of rapid gas expansion and you want this to happen at the turbo, not before it.2. The turbo exhaust, as in all four-stroke engines, depends on scavenging the spent gasses efficiently.  The downpipe you made from formed sections "appears" to not be of a consistent size, resembling an expansion chamber on a two-stroke engine.  A simple mandrel bent piece of straight tubing would have sufficed, although, you may not have had the machine to do this at your disposal.Anyway, any boost you get is better than no boost at all!!  The welding looks great.PS- An air-to-air Intercooler would add even more HP.Hobart 140 Handler w/ gasHyperTherm Powermax 380 Plasmaoxy/acetylene
Reply:Great job, looks like some complex fab work, How long did it take you?.Simonhttp://members.optusnet.com.au/~abba/index.html
