I made a tipping trailer for a mate about 6mths ago and had to take it to work today to get some gear for him so I grab a few pics while I was there its twin axle 3x2 frame with a Landcrusier body extended to 9ft long on it took 3 days from start to finish we brought the axle kit and tipping kit and went from there  Attached ImagesCreative metal Creative metal Facebook

Reply:Great job Wello.I have the exact same project to do, I have a tray off a VW T4 transporter 3mtr x 2mtr, I have a 12volt twin ram tipping set off a old tonner I sold, I still have to get the axles, springs and wheels. Than a day or so to put it together.I have had it all sitting around for a year or so and would love to get it going.When I start it I will have a few questions for you.I also have a hydraulic hiab to mount on it or my Ute. Reply:Wello that's one very nice heavy duty trailer. No trouble to see there were many hours that went into it and to do it in three days you didn't stop for to many coffee. Reply:A Kiwi I worked with brought an Aussie newpaper to work last night.  We looked at the want ads and there were many jobs for "roobar welders"  That Kiwi had us going all night trying to figure out what a roobar welder did.
Reply:Here are a few 'Roobar's' I have built The blue tonner is the one the tipper set up is off. When I bought it, it was bright yellow and full of rust and dents, It had no reverse and ran very rough. Reply:That's a beautiful job, Wello, but I do have an engineering question about it.It looks like there is no major structural member transferring the thrust of the ram to the deep longitudinal rails running down each side under the bed.  Looks like a couple of short 3 inch or so channels transferring the thrust of the ram to about 2 inch square tube transverse members.  Are my eyeballed dimensions close and are these members adequate to transfer the ram thrust to the side rails with a maximum load on the trailer?  Without benefit of any information or analysis other than my eyeballing the photos of the raised bed, I'd worry about the ram distorting the bed by bulging it up in the vicinity of the ram mounting point.(I'll leave the metric conversion up to you.)Have you tried lifting it under maximum load yet?Still, beautiful job!awright
Reply:your eyeballing is every close the xmembers at that point are 2x2x1/4 rhs with the 3 channel and the floor is reinforced with extra plate in that area so its alot stronger than it looks there we put more reinforcement(nothing like a bit of overkill)  than was specified by the supplier of the kit as the guy who I built it for knew if his father use's it it will get overload    the ram is a 3  tonner it so far has carried and tipped loads of just over 2tons Creative metal Creative metal Facebook
