I am looking for referrals to a metal supplier in or around Nashville, TN. Most of my welding is repair work on OHV's and farm equipment. I have a project comming up where I need to build a dozier blade frame for a 1961 Massey Ferguson MF35. I have researched it and have seen several options from 2" pipe to 3x3 square tube. Most of what I would need, except for the tubing, could well be from scrap. It has been a long, long time since I needed to purchase materials and am not familiar with the vendors in this area. Any recommendations would be appreciated.
Reply:don't know anyone up there other than the company i work for, namasco. but remeber, for a dozier blade, they need to be made from AR plate, if not, better invest in 100#'s of hardfacing rods. my brother in law runs a concrete company digging foundations, much hardfacing has to be done and those buckets are made from AR 400. there is a company down here that makes equipment attatchments that uses regular mild steel, but they lay down a complete hardface on the items using robotic welders. remember tp preheat the hardsurface area and clean it well.good luck on your project. |
