Reply:Great job Marky2.Give us a run down on how you do it.Must be rewarding to see when they are finished.Simonhttp://members.optusnet.com.au/~abba/index.html
Reply:That is definitely a new spin on metal work.  What a great addition to this site.  If you have them I'm sure everyone would appreciate pictures of the process.
Reply:Sorry been ofline  ,confined to bed and toilet [must have been something i ate].The figure is first modeled in clay ,a plaster mould is then taken ,this is made in sections ,the clay is then removed ,the inside of the mould is then painted with wax until it is 1/4"thick runners and risers are then added these are wax rods 1/2"-3/4" in dia the was is then invested in a mixture of plaster and grog ,this is allowed to dry and is then put in a furnace where the wax is burnt out ,the mould is then buried in a sand pit ,next the molten bronze  is poured once it has cooled the mould is brocken off hopefully leaving the bronze behind ,runners and risers are cut off the pieces fitted tacked and welded.Iwill take some pictures next time we do a pour. marky
Reply:Now that is cool as can be ...Please post picture of the process the next time you do a castting.
