Im new to welding and have been using a speedglas , but today I tried someone elses hood that had a gold lens and it was amazing..I like it better than my speedglas..I have another non a.d. hood I assume i can throw a gold lens into..There is an airgas store very close to my house..this is all I need , right?. http://www.airgas.com/browse/product...&WT.svl=204383
Reply:I would be getting a shade 10 as well..Not the 12 thats in my link
Reply:As long as your hood will accept the flat lens, and the lens is the correct size (length and width) you should be fine. I'd start out with a fresh clear front protective lens too.I purchase a couple shade #9 recently for TIG. Mine have a light reddish tint to them.ESAB Migmaster 250 Hobart Ironman 230Multimatic 215TWECO Fabricator 181i & 211iHH125EZ - nice little fluxcore only unitMaxstar 150 STH - very nice
Reply:cool thanks..just picked one up..i'm in school doing overhead welding, my a.d.'s cover was filthy with spatter and i couldn't see what im doing, at all..tried someones fixed shade with a gold tint and clean lens and the difference is like night and day
Reply:I have a Huntsman 951P ( I think) with a shade 10 gold lens. It is sooooo much clearer than my previous NorthernToll Autodarkening hood ( which I hated).Love the gold lens for the clarity but miss the auto feature. I've heard the Jackson NexGens have good clarity but have never tried one. |
