Hello I have a 1992 miller bluestar 180k... runs great but weld and power are real weak... I checked the F1 fuse and it is fine Dont want to take to miller rep. because they will charge more than the welder is worth Please anybody know what could be going on...Thanks a million... [email protected]
Reply:You didn't say if the unit has been sitting unused for a period of time but a few things come to mind starting with the basic to the worse case.Common:1) Engine speed too slow2) Field needs to be flashed (if sitting for a long period)3) Dirty rotor slip rings (same as 2)4) Dirty Fine Current Control rheostat R1 wiper/windings5) Bad/corroded connection(s) at one or more PC1 control board plug(s)6) Bad/corroded connection(s) in field exciter voltage circuitNot so likely7) Bad field voltage rectifier SR1, SR2 or SR38) Bad field voltage stabilize capacitor C1 or C29) Bad Fine Current Control rheostat R110) Bad Field Current Regulator board PC111) Bad engine Rectifier Regulator12) Bad Field Current Regulator transformer T113) Bad field exciter windingsThat's about it from simplest to worse and my guess would be one of the common items in the first half.MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!
