welding gate or other large width items

how do people put together a large area item like a gate and get it flat and not skewed/warped if I don't have a perfectly flat floor ?
Reply:Use pipe stands with two pieces of pipe going across them. Level the pipes and set your metal cross them. If you don't have pipe stands then make some. You will use them from now on.
Reply:I work off the floor when project demands it. My slab isn'tperfectly plumb, so I end up shimming my work in some spots. Hillbilly

Reply:thanks, made a couple long horses like DSW's with 3 point feet and leveled them off with shims
