Well heres the project for today..save the heads..and shorten the roll face by 8 inches..its no big deal but i wanted to prove a point..yes you can make nice welds with 7018 vertical..so heres step by step..step one is you machine the I.D. of the tube and measure...then turn the O.D. of the head .008 bigger than the bore...then you heat the tubing up with the O/P setup...Attachment 4359insert head...Attachment 4361still hot!!!Attachment 4360after cooling weld in place...but note where the rod is...(9 o'clock)(anyone could weld it on the bottom at 6 o'clock)...Attachment 4362finished weld..Attachment 4363now mind you i had to turn the tube with one hand and weld with the other at the same time..continious weld..and its NOT easy... and for laffs it was 1/8 7018 @ 110 amps DC..i get all the fun jobs... ...zap!Last edited by zapster; 12-27-2007 at 05:21 PM.I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
