cnc plasma idea

slow shop times, got a cnc plasma machine thats just sitting there. anybody have any ideas for stuff i can burn out and sell on ebay or something?

Reply:I'm building my own. They cost to much. If you buy a good one there over $10k. I want to build a 36" by 36" I want to be able to push 8' plate through it. The first project is security door metal inserts. Desert and cowboy screens. There are $600 each, the doors that is. I also want to do stage coach and running horses. Got the electronics, motors, limit switches and software. I think I have the hard stuff figured out. I think I can build a good one for less then $1k. I've bought main ckt boards, control (3 axes) and motor drivers, software and 4 - 3 amp stepper motors. So you can see I'm serious about doing this.I'll be using my Max30 to start with for the plasma cutter. Just have to figure out the trigger control.I'm building the table, frame and gantry out of aluminum, with adjustable leveling legs.VernLast edited by Vern2; 01-31-2010 at 11:17 PM.
Reply:Business card holders.A lady stumbled onto my card and gave me a call.  She wants a holder with the logo from the card on the holder.  She even had a picture of 'something like this--".The logo is tiny and grainy but I sent it to a designer and got a dxf file back.(www.customdxffiles.com - Jason Henry; highly recommended)I plan to make another and carry it around to businesses with 'front-desks'.  If they have a generic card holder, I'll show them what they could have. Reply:My son is an industrial designer. He designed some book-ends, We had the parts plasma cut. Looked pretty good, but we haven't really worked hard enough on selling them. Once they are welded and power coated, they look great. we plan to make a design change on the next run to make able to hold more books. Reply:We used to make custom motorcycle parts, same with badges and the likes for cars and trucks. Chevrons, maltese crosses etc.  Send em to the powder coat or chrome plater and they'll sell.I did a set of custom rear-set guards for my bike, but cut 20 extra and sold them to recoupe the costs.
